A Kirby Song Won a Grammy Award Last Night! Everyone Cheer!

a kirby song

In a wild turn of events at last night’s Grammy Awards ceremony, a Kirby song has officially won a grammy! The song is from the 1996 Super NES classic Kirby Super Star, and it is none other than “Meta Knight’s Revenge” performed by The 8-Bit Big Band.

The award was for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella, and the nominees were the following:

  • “The Struggle Within”, Gabriela Quintero & Rodrigo Sanchez, arrangers (Rodrigo y Gabriela)
  • “Infinite Love”, Emile Mosseri, arranger (Emile Mosseri)
  • “For the Love of a Princess (From Braveheart)”, Robin Smith, arranger (HAUSER, London Symphony Orchestra & Robin Smith)
  • “Chopsticks”, Bill O’Connell, arranger (Richard Baratta)
  • “Meta Knight’s Revenge (From Kirby Super Star)”, Charlie Rosen & Jake Silverman, arrangers (The 8-Bit Big Band Featuring Button Masher)

In a wonderful surprise, the Kirby song won the Grammy and brought joy to the gaming world! This is only the second time in Grammy history where a video game song won an award, with Civilization IV‘s “Beta Yahu” being the first.

This is a wonderful time for Kirby! Not only did the absolutely amazing Kirby and the Forgotten Land release recently, but now the pink puffball has a Grammy in its corner, too! Maybe 2022 is the year of Kirby, no?
