Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet Announced During Pokemon Presents

During today’s Pokemon Presents, The Pokemon Company made a huge announcement, as Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet have been made official, and they will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch later this year. This is presumably Generation 9, and we have quite the details to start us off.

Check out the reveal trailer:

About Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The trailer shows a new area but fopcuses to showcase the type of gameplay we have been introduced to from Pokemon Legends: Arceus with a full 3D perspective, Pokemon roaming in the wild and more.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are said to “take a new evolutionary step in the Pokemon main series.” Players will be able to “explore an open world where various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness.” Similar to Pokemon Legends: Arceus, creatures are in the open and interactive with you accordingly.

As one of the main characters, trainers will jump into the world of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet to begin their adventure, where they will have a different outfit depending on which game they are playing. Trainers will then choose either Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon, Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokémon, or Quaxly, the Duckling Pokémon to be their first partner Pokémon before setting off on their journey.

Finally, as for Pokemon Home compatibility in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, it’ll be possible to link the games to Pokemon Home. For those that are unaware, Home lets users maintain their entire Pokemon collection in one place. Players will be able to have Pokemon from other regions adventure alongside them in Scarlet and Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are planned to release later this year. I am sure we will learn more about these titles as the months pass, especially during the Nintendo Direct at E3, so we will just have to wait for further information.
