GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition

Earlier this month, GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was announced by Rockstar with a loose release window of November 2021. We now know that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will launch digitally on Nintendo Switch November 11th, 2021, and a physical version will follow later on December 7th, 2021.

On top of the release date news, Rockstar also dropped a new trailer. Check it out:

The GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition package contains enhanced versions of Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas. They’ll come with GTAV-inspired modern controls, visual improvements such as resolution upgrades and improved visual fidelity across the worlds, and so much more.

When it comes to the gameplay, players can look forward to modern control upgrades, including improvements to targeting and lock-on aiming, updated weapon and radio station wheels, and updated mini-maps with enhanced navigation allowing players to set waypoints to their destinations. For the Switch version of GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, gyro aiming has been confirmed, as well as touch screen camera zooming, pans, and menu selections in handheld mode.

Graphically, the games have a rebuilt lighting system with improved shadows, weather, and reflections, upgraded character and vehicle models, and new higher resolution textures across buildings, weapons, roads, interiors, etc. Environmental upgrades are in place with new foliage, smoother surfaces, and increased draw distances.

It has also been confirmed that Grove Street Games has developed all of the remasters, and as speculated, they have been made in Unreal Engine.
