Clock Simulator Switch Review – Be The Clock

I’m going to be honest, I purchased Clock Simulator as a joke.  It was extremely cheap on sale, I had no idea what it was, but the idea seemed amusing enough to justify throwing a couple of dollars at it. I was hanging out with a good friend of mine on Discord, and he laughed at me when I said I purchased it, though I am known to buy any random game that crosses my path.

Usually these games suck a whole bunch, and other times they aren’t even translated into English despite being in the eShops of countries that primarily speak English. That last part isn’t on the developers of any particular game, of course, that’s on me for getting excited about a 30 cent game and not reading the information in the eShop page.

Clock Sumulator was a nice surprise. The entire game could hardly be more simple, however Kool2Play have managed to get a whole lot of mileage out of what boils down to “press A at the right time”.

When I say “the right time”, I literally mean the right time. To be more specific, you need to press A every second, as close to exactly as possible each time. The entire game is based around having different visuals, audio and visual cues, or just complete blandness, such as a minigame where you need to jump over the hands of the clock, or one where you only see a digital clock and have to try and get into the rhythm yourself.

I’d call Clock Simulator the most pure rhythm game out there. It’s the most consistent beat possible; it’s the one sound you’ll hear in your house if you wake up at midnight; it’s different versions of a song known worldwide; It’s the ticking of the clock.

There are multiplayer modes available in case you have a friend who also wants to become more aware of every passing second spent playing video games, but even solo, the game is entirely fun to play. I poured multiple hours into it before I realized it and went to bed far later than I intended.

There really isn’t much more to say about this game: it looks nice, it plays exactly the way it is supposed to, and it doesn’t try to give you anything else.

It doesn’t need to… it’s a clock.
