NOTE: (Jan 6, 2022) We have an updated list that you can visit here with even bigger download sizes.

1. L.A. Noire’s File Size – 27.4GB

Take-Two Interative originally released L.A. Noire in May 2011 to great critical acclaim (L.A. Noire on eShop). It won a BAFTA for its ‘original music’ and was nominated in several other categories. The detective game hit the Switch back in November 2017 and critics were quick to point out that the game wouldn’t fit on the built-in 32GB of storage, and eager players would have to purchase another SD card separately. There is now even a warning on the eShop page! See this IGN article from the time. Juan even reviewed L.A. Noire on SwitchWatch all the way back in 2017, if you’re interested in checking that out.

2. Resident Evil Revelations 2’s File Size – 23.6GB

In Resident Evil Relevations 2, Claire Redfield returns to the beloved (and frightening) series working for the anti-bioterrorism organization Terra-Save (eShop). Published by CAPCOM, the game even makes use of the Switch’s motion controls to improve weapon aim. Up to 2 players can hop in together if you can free up enough space for this one.

3. NBA 2K18’s File Size – 23.0GB

The Switch’s fanbase aren’t exactly average gamers. They heavily support indies, where on most platforms it’s a race to the bottom on price and quality. They opt for handheld where most consoles in this generation are focusing on sedentary couch-based gaming. EA’s NBA, on the other hand, is as mainstream as it gets (eShop). What’s more, it has a massive file size! Warning: NBA2K18‘s multiplayer servers were taken down last year.

4. DOOM’s File Size – 21.3GB

“New” DOOM (to not offend the OG players) is a very fun game. You’re put right into the action from the start as you fight off monsters from the initial spawn. What makes DOOM so special is the attention to detail. From the music to each individual gory weapon animation, the effort that went into this game really shows.

5. WWE 2K18’s File Size – 20.3GB

You don’t have to be a natural born wrestler to be good at WWE 2K18, but you do have to wrestle with it’s giant file size before you even get into the ring. I’m sorry. All jokes aside, there is clearly a reason why other big AAA titles haven’t made it to the Switch yet. You would have to get an individual game card for each one.

6. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s File Size – 14.3GB

It’s kind of dead now to joke about just how many platforms Skyrim has been released on, but jeez… it’s everywhere. It’s a great game, though, and to be honest I have no problem with it releasing wherever. Unfortunately, what it brings with it when it releases isn’t so much fun. It’s 14.3GB install file making it the sixth biggest game you can get on the Switch.

7. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s File Size – 13.8GB

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild defines the Switch today. It launched with it, and despite how cool the Switch is as a console, if BOTW hadn’t been there at launch the Switch may not have been such a breakout success as it proved to be. Coming in at 7th on this list, it had a pretty big file size considering how tiny most of the downloadable titles were at the Switch’s launch.

So that pretty much rounds it off for today’s list. I really hope you enjoyed reading about the biggest file sizes on the Switch here on Nintendo Link. If you want to check out my source, it’s linked here. Have a great day!
