Switch Has Officially Outsold the Game Boy Advance

The Nintendo Switch conquered another mountain today as details from Nintendo’s latest financial results come in. The console has not sold a total of 84.59 million units worldwide, and that is enough to officially outsell the Game Boy Advance family. The Game Boy Advance’s total sales rest at 81.51 million units, which means the Switch is already 3 million units past.

Back in February, the Nintendo Switch officially passed the Nintendo DS family, which was a massive milestone, and the console has of course outsold the Wii U, GameCube, N64, SNES, and NES as well, leaving only three consoles ahead of the hybrid unit.

With the Nintendo Wii at 101.63 million, the original Game Boy at 118.69 million, and the Nintendo DS at 154.02 million, the Switch is going to need to sell another 70 million units to surpass the current king of Nintendo consoles.

However unbelievable that goal is, the Switch is only 16 million units away from passing its next goal: The Nintendo Wii. This one seems quite plausible, and I personally think the Game Boy is another possibility by the end of the Switch’s existence.

No matter where the hybrid console rests at the end of its run, Nintendo should be quite proud of its success. It is officially the 4th best-selling console in company history.
