Farming Sim Coral Island Surpasses $1 Million With 9 Days to Go
Coral Island, a “re-imagined farm sim game inspired by the classics” has funded over $1 million on Kickstarter. The game, which is being developed by Indonesian studio, Stairway Games, had an original target of only $70,000 which it has now surpassed by over 1,469%.
The game has hit 13 of it’s 14 stretch goals including:
- Mini Games $125K
- Bug Catching $175K
- Expanded Museum $200K
- NPC Seasonal Outfits $250K
- Console & Switch Port $300K
- Merfolk Under-water village $350K
- Kids Grow Up $400K
- Mod Support $500K
- Multiplayer $600K
- Beach & Festival Outfits $700K
- 4 More dateable characters $750K
- 4 More characters $850K
- Merfolk Kingdom $1 Million
It’s one remaining stretch goal, set at $1.25 million, is for island hopping, where players can build a ship and travel to new lands once they’ve completed the base game. This is certainly a pretty impressive list for an indie title.
Coral Island has now raised more funds than Larian Studios’s Divinity: Original Sin did back in April 2013, making it the highest funded Kickstarter game currently live and the 28th highest funded video game in Kickstarter history!
For reference, one of the most legendary Kickstarter games, although not necessarily for the right reasons, Star Citizen, sits in at 20th place.
According to Kicktraq, the project is trending towards a whopping $1.5 million, which would place it in the 24th spot, comfortably ahead of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which raised $1.1 million back in February 2014.
