Overwatch 2 Kiriko Ranked – Release Date
The new hero in Overwatch 2 Kiriko has quickly become a fan favorite. However, she isn’t available to play as in the game’s ranked mode yet. The good news is that we know exactly when she’ll arrive to competitive play, and it’s soon.
When Does The Overwatch 2 Kiriko Character Join Ranked Modes?
The Overwatch 2 Kiriko character will be joining ranked play on December 7, 2022. This is when the first official season of the game will end, and the second season begins. At that point in time, many would know how to play as the Overwatch 2 Kiriko hero and more importantly how to counter her in competitive.
When the new hero for Season 2 is released, they too will be unavailable for ranked play in that period of time. It’s only fair, just in case there’s a game-breaking bug from the character that Blizzard needs to fix or if they’re overpowered.
What Does Season 1 of Overwatch 2 Include?
As you may know already, Overwatch 2 has ditched the loot boxes and has instead implemented a battle pass instead like Apex Legends. It’s a popular model as we now are guaranteed the rewards of each season.
Overwatch 2 with its Season 1 Battle Pass includes the Overwatch 2 Kiriko character (rather than having to level up to 55 for free to unlock her), multiple legendary skins, voice lines, highlight intros, and other cosmetics. Thankfully, it’s not pay-to-win, but it will cost you 1,000 Overwatch Coins to get it.
Unfortunately, it seems like Kiriko will not be available to unlock after December 7, 2022, as each season pass has an exclusive character behind it. Hopefully, those who miss the first battle pass will be able to unlock her in the future.
The Overwatch 2 Kiriko hero is very fun to play. She’s a decent healer who sends magical paper projectiles to help her allies. In addition, she throws kunai that can actually cause a lot of damage if you manage a headshot. She also has a handy ultimate that increases the speed of her squad’s attacks, including herself. She’s one of the freshest characters in the game and Kiriko even has her own banging theme song.
