Overwatch 2: How To Earn Overwatch Coins
Overwatch 2 is now a free-to-play product, and that means you’ll have to keep track of in-game microtransactions. One such currency includes Overwatch Coins, which can get you new costumes, emotes, and other rewards for your characters. Here’s how to earn these coins for free and what the price model is for this currency.
How Do You Get Overwatch Coins in Overwatch 2 For Free?
Overwatch Coins can be earned by completing weekly challenges. If you complete four, you’ll gain 30. If you finish eight, you’ll gain an extra 20. Then, if you’re able to manage all 11 weekly challenges, you’ll net a final 10. This means you can earn 50 Overwatch Coins per week, which is quite a measly amount.
Unfortunately, there are no other ways to earn Overwatch Coins for free. It would be cool if Blizzard upped the reward, but right now, Blizzard is quite stringent.
What Is The Payment Model In Overwatch 2?
Overwatch no longer has loot boxes. Instead, you’re able to pick out what you’d like from the store. However, you’ll need Coins for that. You can see your current currency on the top right of the screen. Next to it on the Shop menu, you’ll see a “+” symbol next to it. Click it. From here, you’ll see the varying amounts of Overwatch Coins you can purchase.
- 500 is $4.99 (£4.39)
- 1,000 is $9.99 (£8.39)
- 2,200 is $19.99 (£16.79)
- 5,700 is $49.99 (£42.99)
- 11,600 is $99.99 (£84.99)
You can also purchase the Watchpoint Pack for $29.99 (£34.99), which comes with the Season 1 Pass, all 35 original Overwatch characters, and 2000 Coins. In addition, there’s the seasonal Starter Pack, which comes with a character skin and 500 Overwatch Coins.
Unlike Fortnite, the season pass doesn’t let you earn the currency back. Hopefully, Blizzard can retool this microtransactional model to include more with its season pass.
