Is An Elden Ring Nintendo Switch Port In The Works?
Elden Ring is the latest open-world adventure to thrill both fans and critics with its epic landscapes and tough, but well-designed boss battles. However, is an Elden Ring Nintendo Switch port happening anytime soon? Read on to find out.
Is An Elden Ring Nintendo Switch port possible?
Currently, there have been no plans shared by Bandai Namco, Nintendo, or the developer FromSoftware about a possible Elden Ring Nintendo Switch port.
The likely problem is that Elden Ring is too powerful for the Nintendo Switch hardware to run it. The game’s even having optimization issues on the PC, but the console versions have been stable with an overall great frame rate. It is unlikely that Elden Ring could run natively on the hybrid system.
On the other hand, some games have been available on the Nintendo Switch via streaming. For example, a highly detailed game called Dying Light 2 will be making its way to the Switch via this method. Perhaps Elden Ring could follow this path, despite others struggling with the method like the Kingdom Hearts series on Switch.
Bandai Namco has also been a large contributor to the system’s library. We’ve had some stellar games like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch heading to the platform. Dark Souls Remastered even made it to the system. All three of these games are not as intense as Elden Ring‘s visuals, but if Bandai Namco wants to put in the effort, they could make it happen via streaming or possibly a future Switch console.
So, to wrap this up, there are currently no plans to release Elden Ring on the Switch. If we hear any news on this topic, we’ll update you here on Nintendo Link. If you want a similar experience to the Nintendo Switch, the portable PC Steam Deck by Valve does run Elden Ring.
