All 2022 Nintendo Games To Watch Out For

With DLC support for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Metroid Dread behind us, 2022 Nintendo games are going to be upon the hybrid handheld. From the feisty football (soccer) antics of Mario Strikers: Battle League to the highly anticipated Breath of the Wild sequel, we have many 2022 Nintendo games to look forward to.

Triangle Strategy

The HD-2D revolution from Square Enix returns in Triangle Strategy on March 4. This RPG plays similarly to Final Fantasy Tactics as you strategize where to place your units. For example, if you place an archer on higher ground, they’ll have increased range. You can also use lightning attacks on opponents standing on water for extra damage. We should also expect a grand story to come out of this title as it’s from the same developers as Octopath Traveler.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

The pink puffball’s first adventure in the 3D realm Kirby and the Forgotten Land will be launching for the Nintendo Switch on March 25. In a strange twist for such a family-friendly franchise, we’ll be exploring abandoned malls and post-apocalyptic landscapes as we proceed through the game. It will also feature co-op gameplay as we suck up enemies around each space for all sorts of copied abilities. Strangely, there will also be a mouthful mode which has Kirby possess a car and other items. We hope this is one of the best Nintendo 2022 games.

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-boot Camp

The fan-favorite strategy game series Advance Wars is finally making its grand return. Nintendo will be releasing remasters of the first two games on April 8 (if it doesn’t get delayed again). In the game, Andy, Max, Sami, and a slew of commanding officers are trying to save their nation from Caulder and his forces. There will be a bunch of abilities to try in this cult classic title. For old-school fans of the series, this will likely be one of the best Nintendo 2022 games for them.

Nintendo Switch Sports

The fun continues when Nintendo Switch Sports launches on April 29. The game will include six sports at launch: tennis, bowling, football (soccer), badminton, volleyball, and Chambara. Nintendo will get us moving again and provides leg strap support for its footie component. All of the games look exciting and will likely mark a welcome return to a Wii Sports-like environment. Golf is also on the way as a free update later in the year. If the casual audience returns, Nintendo Switch Sports could be one of the best-selling 2022 Nintendo games.

Mario Strikers: Battle League

It’s been 15 years, but fans who have long-awaited a Mario Strikers sequel will get their wish on June 10. The energetic football/soccer game will have you tackling foes into electric fences, using items, and scoring goals with special moves. Part of the magic of Mario Strikers is how fast ball handling is as you’re passing the ball from one to the other. Mario Strikers: Battle League will also feature multiple gear types, so you can change the stats of any character you play as. Online support is also provided with a new league system in place.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

Just over one year after Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity comes Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes on June 24. Featuring the cast of Three Houses once more, we’ll be taking out foes as Edelgard, Dimitri, Claude, and other characters from the original game. It is set during war time when all three factions are fighting it out. A new antagonist appears before Byleth as well, so there will likely be new story content to experience if you’re a fan of Three Houses.

Splatoon 3

The next title in the extremely popular Splatoon series will be dropping onto store shelves sometime this Summer. Splatoon 3 will welcome us to the Splatlands, a place that is home to many Inklings and Octolings who have fought many battles. It’s a wasteland that seems to be adding a slightly edgier tone for the series. The game is also adding new weapons like a bow and arrow in ink form. We can’t wait to battle in its multiplayer modes. In the campaign, we’ll be fighting against the Octarian Army, and hopefully we will find out more about the Mammalians.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

More JRPG goodness is on the way for Nintendo Switch owners with Xenoblade Chronicles 3 heading to physical and digital stores sometime this September. This sequel will meld the worlds of the first and second game together in an ultimate clash between the nations of Keves and Agnus. We’ll be playing as all-new characters Noah and Mio as they tackle an adventure with “life” as its central theme. This is going to be one of the most highly anticipated Nintendo 2022 games.

Bayonetta 3

Releasing sometime in 2022, Bayonetta 3 will finally bring back the return of the witch once more. We still don’t know much about this new entry, including a mysterious new character at the end of its debut trailer, but we hope to hear more from its developer Platinum Games sometime soon. We could see this being pushed back from the 2022 Nintendo games lineup.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

Another mysterious game that has yet to even receive an official title is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel. Apparently launching in 2022, this open-world title features a new floating island within Hyrule. Ganon is also teased to return, and he looks much more sinister than before if the debut trailer is to be believed. Also, Link will gain the ability to warp through the earth with a strange new power that lets him float upwards. Once we hear more about this sequel, we’ll let you know.

Other things to keep note of

Nintendo announced during the last Direct that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will be receiving downloadable tracks within the Booster Course Pass, which will include 48 tracks by the end of 2023. Some of the courses we know are in the DLC package so far include Coconut Mall (Mario Kart Wii), Paris Promenade (Mario Kart Tour), and Shroom Ridge (Mario Kart DS). The first pack is releasing on March 18.

Multiple collections from Nintendo’s massive library of games are speculated to release, too. We expect to see some sort of The Legend of Zelda pack with Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD included, like Skyward Sword HD last year.

In addition, we wouldn’t be surprised if the much-rumored Metroid Prime remaster comes before the release of the fourth entry. According to GameRant, multiple leakers have said that the game’s already finished development and is waiting to be launched. No official word has been given for any of these collections at the time of writing.
