Five February 2022 Nintendo Switch Games To Watch Out For
February 2022 is an exciting time for Nintendo Switch owners, and while we’re now lacking Dying Light 2: Stay Human for the month, there are still a bunch more games to look forward to.
Here’s the rundown from the skateboarding world of OlliOlli World to the rooftops of Assassin’s Creed.
Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection
This important video game trilogy that rocked the PS3 and Xbox 360 era will finally release for the Nintendo Switch on February 17. Including the entire Ezio saga (Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations), you’ll be set forth in an engaging adventure set between the Templars and the Assassins.
The charming protagonist of the game, Ezio Auditore, ages throughout, creating a rounded story for the player to participate in. With solid stealth gameplay, big open spaces to explore, and decent combat, you’ll find a lot of engaging content within this one package.
Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream
Ever wanted to play a JRPG and not want to take on a dark overlord? Well, Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream might be for you. This series focusing on alchemy is usually a more laid back form of the genre with some entertaining characters and a more light hearted script.
While there’s plenty of alchemy involved, this JRPG does have a turn-based combat system; if you’re missing this particular sub-section of the genre, this might be a good way to go. But it’s not a traditional system; in Atelier Sophie 2, you’ll be able to use six party members separated into two teams, and there will be opportunities for two squadmates to attack together at once. Atelier Sophie 2: Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is releasing on February 24.
Infernax
Would you like a new Castlevania game in the old style like Sonic Mania? Infernax delivers that for a new age of gamers on the Nintendo Switch and perhaps more. Packed with delightful 8-bit visuals, this adventure feels like a new game in the Konami series with sublime controls and intriguing gameplay.
As you play along, you are faced with decisions that can dramatically alter the storyline for multiple endings. In addition, I was able to play about 30 minutes, and the gameplay feels great with responsive controls that feel more refined than its NES inspiration. Did we mention there are some tough bosses in Infernax? I can’t wait to see how this game plays out when it releases for the Nintendo Switch on February 14.
Kingdom Hearts: Integrum Masterpiece
It’s the 20th anniversary of the Kingdom Hearts series this year and to help celebrate it, all of the games will be available for the Switch on February 10. Unfortunately, for us, they are all cloud versions. I tried it earlier this month of January, and the stream quality isn’t the best for the demos currently out now.
But despite the laggy response and bad resolution, the Kingdom Hearts series is so magnificent. The story, while confusing at times, is phenomenal as the hero Sora (and a few others) defeats the darkness time and time again. The worlds recreate Disney worlds in wonderful ways, and in some cases, actually grows the storyline outside the movie.
It also has exciting action RPG combat that allows you to summon the likes of Stitch, Dumbo, and Simba in battle, in addition to implementing frenetic combos and magical abilities. They’re still some of the best JRPGs ever made, despite the issues with the cloud.
OlliOlli World
Lastly, is the skateboarding wonderland known as OlliOlli World. In this game, you’ll be exploring Radlandia, a place with ghost trees, zombees, aliens, and many forms of interesting life in its colorful world. It looks close to an animated series like Adventure Time or Steven Universe.
For fans of the Tony Hawk series, you might be happy to know that you can perform over 100 moves, and you can explore “millions of unique levels” in the sandbox mode, according to the Nintendo eShop store listing. It’s a 2.5D game, but you can move between the tracks for multiple routes on one level similarly to Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Thank you for stopping by Nintendo Link! February 2022 has a lot of intriguing games coming to the Nintendo Switch platform and will keep us busy, especially if you play the Kingdom Hearts series, which will last you hundreds of hours.
What will you be playing from this list of games, or are there any other titles you think we forgot? Let us know in the comments below.
