Pokemon GO Announces Season of Heritage, December 2021 Events Schedule

Niantic has just announced a whole lot for Pokemon GO, including the new Season of Heritage event as well as the wrap up events for December 2021 and the lead in to 2022. We have news on raids, community events, and more!

Introducing the Season of Heritage!

After uncovering the mysteries of Hoopa during the Season of Mischief, Trainers will soon embark on a new adventure in Pokémon GO’s next season, the Season of Heritage. This new Season will begin on Wednesday December 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. and run through Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. local time. Trainers will seek to solve mysteries of the past in a series of events leading up to Pokémon GO Tour: Johto in 2022, including:

• Swinub Incense Day(December 5): Incense will attract Ice- and Ground-type Pokémon, including Swinub.
• Dragonspiral Descent (December 7): Druddigon will make its Pokémon GO debut!
• Monthly Seasonal Bonuses and Timed Research: Trainers will enjoy special bonuses each month to assist them in completing the Team Leaders’ Timed Research. 
• December Stardust Challenge: Complete Blanche’s Time Research to earn the Deino Hat avatar item.
• January XP Challenge: Complete Spark’s Timed Research to earn the Goomy Hat avatar item.
• February Catch Challenge: Complete Candela’s Time Research to earn the Noibat Hat avatar item.
• Community Days: Various Pokémon will be featured during events on December 18 and 19, 2021, January 16, 2022, and February 12, 2022.
• Pokémon GO Tour: Johto (February 26 and 27): Stay tuned for more news.

December Highlights

• December Community Day:This Community Day event will see 2021’s Community Day Pokémon appearing in the wild while 2020’s Community Day Pokémon will be hatching from Eggs and appearing in raids.
• Research Breakthrough Encounter:From Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. to Saturday, January 1, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8), Trainers can encounter Deino in Research Breakthrough encounters. 
• Mega Raids: Mega Steelix and Mega Abomasnow will be appearing in Mega Raids.
• Raid Hours: Every Wednesday in December, a Raid Hour event will occur from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time. The following Pokémon will be featured: Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem.
• Other upcoming events include the Season of Heritage (December 1, 2021 – March 1, 2022), Swinub Incense Day (December 5), Dragonspiral Descent (December 7–12), and Winter Holiday (December 16–31). See further details below.
