Metroid Dread Bug Surfaces, Nintendo Offers Advice While Working on a Patch

It has been discovered recently that a Metroid Dread bug towards the end of the title has been crashing some players’ game with the message “The software was closed because an error occurred” appearing afterward.

Thankfully, there is a very simple workaround that will prevent this from happening, and Nintendo has officially acknowledged the Metroid Dread bug and has provided the following instructions:

The problem takes place if a player destroys a door while a map marker for that specific door is on the map. If you have experienced this error, Nintendo’s advice for the moment is to restart Metroid Dread, and before destroying said door, make sure to remove the map marker icon from that particular door. This will prevent the error from occurring and the game will continue as normal.

Nintendo has also said that a patch is planned and will release later this month.
