Is Fire Emblem Engage Mainline?
Fire Emblem Engage has been exciting fans with its bright art style and interesting mechanic of bringing back beloved characters like Marth and Roy as part of the battle. However, seeing Marth, Roy, and Corrin all in one game is quite strange, causing many to question whether a Fire Emblem Engage mainline approach is possible or not. Here’s what we know.
Should We Consider Fire Emblem Engage Mainline?
Multiple outlets including IGN have stated that it is indeed true that a Fire Emblem Engage mainline story exists. Although Nintendo has never confirmed that there’s Fire Emblem Engage mainline involvement, it does say in the Announcement Trailer’s description on YouTube that the game is a “new Fire Emblem story.” This seemingly proves that this is the case.
What left some fans doubting that Fire Emblem Engage is a mainline story is that the game was reported to be assisted and developed by a different company, Gust. They’re known for their solid work on the Atelier Ryza series.
However, the overall Fire Emblem franchise has been developed by Intelligent Systems, and despite the reports, it seems to be the sole developer behind the game as there’s no mention of Gust on the eShop store page.
Which Fire Emblem Characters Are In The Game?
Now with a Fire Emblem Engage mainline confirmation, you should know that there will be both original characters and those from the past. As we previously mentioned, Marth, Roy, Ike, and Corrin are in the game. They’re also joined by:
- Byleth
- Celica
- Eirika
- Leif
- Lucina
- Lyn
- Micaiah
- Sigurd
There will also be an expansion pass, which comes with Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and Tiki from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light among other games. This is just wave one of the expansion pass with more characters coming in the future. The first wave will release on January 20 alongside Fire Emblem Engage‘s release.
