Five Exciting December 2022 Switch Games To Watch Out For
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but that also means that the number of game releases is drastically lower. Thankfully, there are still a few gem games to round out 2022 like Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion and Inscryption for the Nintendo Switch. Here are five exciting December 2022 Switch games to keep an eye on.
Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion
The Nintendo Switch may have missed out on Final Fantasy VII Remake, but it will be getting a native port of the prequel Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion. Originally on the PSP, this game featuring Zack Fair has an exciting action RPG combat system and an entertaining story. You’ll get more details about Cloud’s backstory as he is a friend of Zack’s in this dramatic narrative. This JRPG will be released on December 13 on the Nintendo Switch and other major platforms. This is most likely one of the biggest December 2022 Switch games.
Dragon Quest Treasures
Square Enix is providing Nintendo Switch fans with another prequel in the December 2022 Switch games lineup, but this time it features Erik from the beloved Dragon Quest XI. As a thief class, Erik travels the world alongside his sister Mia in a viking ship. With the help of the monsters they’ve befriended Procus and Purrsula, they’re finding treasure in a place called Draconia.
The combat seems to be a callback to the Dragon Quest Monsters franchise is which you catch monsters around Erik and Mia, and then have them battle alongside you. You’ll also be using the help of monsters for traversal around the world.
Square Enix says on the official Nintendo page that we’ll “venture into a vast, varied world where twists, turns, and mysteries lie hidden on your path to discovering the legendary treasure of Draconia!” Dragon Quest Treasures releases on December 9.
Inscryption
Inscryption is one of the creepiest, yet gripping card games you’ll find on the Nintendo Switch when it finally comes to the hybrid system on December 1. It has well-crafted mechanics within the card game, and Inscryption encourages you to think outside the box while making strategies. It even wants you to look around the room you’re stuck in for ways to escape. We don’t want to spoil you any further. Just check this game out when it releases as one of the best December 2022 Switch games.
Sports Story
After many months of waiting, the sequel of Golf Story, Sports Story, is finally arriving to the Nintendo Switch sometime in December. It mixes RPG mechanics and systems with the sports we all know and love. It brings back golf back, but we’ll also be able to play BMX, mini-golf, cricket, volleyball, and fishing among other sports. The game also teases “dungeons, abandoned ruins, and the mysterious Wildlands” on the official Nintendo eShop listing. We hope Sports Story doesn’t get delayed out of the December 2022 Switch games schedule.
Wavetale
Last up is the prior Google Stadia exclusive Wavetale coming to the Nintendo Switch on December 12. If you were hoping for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom this holiday, Wavetale might satisfying that craving. In this open world, your surfing through the waters of a submerged city, crawling with monsters and secrets for you to uncover. The traversal looks thrilling as you’re going through tough waters and swinging through buildings. There’s also a combat system in place.
The developer also says we’ll be able to “experience a heart-warming story about loss and reconciliation.” Hopefully, the potential of Wavetale lives up in the full release. Will this be a hidden gem from the December 2022 games lineup?
