Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope Beginner’s Guide
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is a challenging game that requires you to think strategically. The bosses are certainly tough, and you wouldn’t expect a Mario game to be so difficult at points. Here’s our beginner’s guide for this strategy title.
Each Character Provides A Different Advantage
Before jumping into any battle, make sure you press the left analogue stick. This will give you an oversight of every enemy on the map and their weaknesses. Once you’ve gained that knowledge, decide on which character to choose. For example, if there are enemies that snipe from far away, you’ll want to pick Luigi rather than a short-ranged character like Peach.
However, if you see a bunch of foes that will give you trouble in a short-ranged manner, Peach would be best as her umbrella weapon can take out multiple attackers in one fell swoop.
Choosing The Right Sparks And Levelling Them Up
Throughout your adventure in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, you’ll find all sorts of sparks that will elevate your character’s abilities. When you look at the weaknesses of each foe on the map, try to use the sparks that can help you the most. For example, if there’s a fire-based enemy, Aqua Dash and Aquanox both provide attacks that provide additional damage against them.
You can also upgrade your sparks with the star bits you collect from finished objectives. Press the X button on the spark you want to level up and feed star bits to them with the A button. 100-star bits will have Aquadash, for example, level up from 1 to 2. The number of star bits raises as you level up your sparks further and further. Star Potions, which can be bought at the store, can also level up sparks immediately but cost much more than collecting star bits.
Keep Your Distance And Always Think About Cover
Positioning in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is very important. Whenever you shoot any character’s weapon, they will stand in place. Therefore, make sure when someone like Mario or Edge activates their weapon, they’re behind some sort of cover.
You also want to make sure that their cover protects the character from all angles. Once again, you can press the left analogue stick at any time to look at each of their surroundings. Despite your best efforts, their cover can break down after multiple shots, so try to keep your squad moving from place to place. It’s too bad though that we don’t have Rabbid Yoshi to provide his artillery from the first game.
Stay Stocked Up In Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
There will be many tough moments in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, so make sure you’re carrying many Super Mushrooms as possible. They will heal you for 30% of your health. Keeping Rabbid Peach in your party is also helpful as she can heal her surrounding allies by a significant amount. There are other items that can be beneficial too. The POW Block can be a great way to finish off an opponent as it blasts out a radius of damage around you. The Cooldown Clock also refreshes your Sparks and Techniques once more in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.
Follow The Objective
Sometimes, the game doesn’t require you to take out all of the enemies in front of you. Before you get into battle, check the top left of the screen for your mission. You may instead have to take out a certain enemy only within the crowd or reach a goal. You don’t always have to be the hero and eliminate everyone you see. Be smart and save some time in the process. We don’t need any unnecessary losses as the game will take you straight to the beginning of the battle if the team is wiped out in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.
