Nintendo Switch Sports Update Removed Because of Game-Crashing Bug

nintendo switch sports online

Nintendo has had to pull the most recent update for Nintendo Switch Sports, which is an incredibly rare move for the company. The Switch Sports Update Version 1.2.1 update for the popular title was designed to combat cheating, but it didn’t take long for players to begin experiencing problems like the game crashing during the loading screen before matches, both online and offline.

This is not only a rare situation for Nintendo, but their swift acting has actually caused a serious problem. The update is no longer available, but because many players have already downloaded it, Nintendo has taken down the online servers for the game while they investigate.

Simply put, this means you cannot play Nintendo Switch Sports online at the moment, and you cannot save any of your data to the cloud. Thankfully, you can still play Nintendo Switch Sports locally, and players have been advised to ignore the “software update is required” prompt for the time being.

We will keep you updated on this Nintendo Switch Sports update situation, and hopefully Nintendo resolves this soon and players will be back online once again.
