Is There An NHL 23 Switch Version?
While not updating the game with features, FIFA has long been available on the Nintendo Switch. However, can you pick up a NHL 23 Switch version for the beloved hybrid system? Find out below.
Can You Play An NHL 23 Switch Version?
Playing a game of ice hockey on the Switch while on the road before or after practice would be the best. However, there are currently no plans for an NHL 23 Switch version. The game is only available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
NHL 23 is built on the Frostbite engine, and the Nintendo Switch has only seen a handful of games from it. One example would be Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville. NHL 23 might be too intensive for the Nintendo Switch to run, unfortunately, or there isn’t enough of a market for EA to justify the difficult port.
NHL 23 Alternatives on Switch
Some indies are making up for a lack of an NHL 23 Switch port. For example, Bush Hockey League brings some N64-era visuals and an arcade feel as you score goals and punch opponents. You can even take the players’ helmets off and give them big moustaches.
Ice hockey is a game we’d love to see in Nintendo Switch Sports, but currently, it’s not included. However, badminton, tennis, and soccer (football) are all great alternatives to NHL 23 that bring back the nostalgic feeling of Wii Sports. It’s also online, and you can collect new costumes every week.
The last time an NHL game arrived on any Nintendo system was all the way back in 2010 with NHL Slapshot on the Nintendo Wii. It’s been over a decade, and we can’t figure out why EA is leaving out players from Nintendo consoles. What makes it even weirder is that most of EA’s sports games are made in Vancouver, Canada, what gives, eh?
