Five Exciting October 2022 Switch Games To Watch Out For

October 2022 Switch Games

The fall season has begun, and with it comes many games to the Nintendo Switch. From Mario adventuring with the rabbids to experiencing the wild story of Nier Automata, here’s what to look forward to in the October 2022 Switch games list.

Overwatch 2 (October 4)

Overwatch 2 will be hitting the free-to-play space as Blizzard returns the likes of Tracer and Reinhardt to the public consciousness. Loot boxes have faded away, and instead lies a first person shooter with a battle pass like many others in its genre. In the sequel, there will be 5v5 combat between many different heroes, each with their own abilities, weapons, and roles to offer to the team. Part of the fun is to figure out how they can fit together and strategizing your way to victory. It’s also crossplay compatible.

NieR Automata: The End of YoRHa Edition (October 6)

One of the October 2022 Switch games that fans have been waiting for is NieR Automata: The End of YoRHa Edition. The story that is told through multiple playthroughs of the game in the perspectives of different characters is riveting. The combat is fast and exhilarating as you’d expect from a Platinum Games-developed title. And lastly, the visuals present a post-apocalpytic setting in a refreshing way. The map is absolutely trash, but if you can deal with that headache, you’ll likely get enjoyment out of this JRPG like many others on the system.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope (October 20)

On October 20, we get a sequel to one of the unlikeliest collabs in gaming history, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Similar to strategy games like X-COM, you control a squad of Mario and Rabbid characters as you try to save the day. This time, you’ll be able to control Bowser, Rabbid Rosalina, and Peach among the regular cast. Unfortunately, Rayman is yet again not a part of the story, which is super confusing. Would Sonic be a better fit at this rate? The story, however, will take us to outer space, adding some new themed worlds to explore.

Persona 5 Royal (October 21)

Much like NieR Automata, Persona 5 Royal was heavily requested by Switch owners, especially after Joker’s entrance into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and now it is finally releasing on the platform. The 100+ hour JRPG is beloved by many for its thought-provoking narrative, entertaining turn-based combat (don’t let that stop you from playing this gem), and stylistic anime visuals. Similar to the Pokémon series, you’ll also be gaining Personas throughout your journey and once they join you, you’ll have new moves at your disposal. This is one modern JRPG you don’t want to miss.

Bayonetta 3 is one of the most anticipated October 2022 Switch Games (October 28)

Keeping up with the stylish action is Bayonetta 3, one of, if not, the most anticipated October 2022 Switch games. Releasing just in time for Halloween, this game will be seducing us with its glorious action combat, gorgeous visuals, and even a kaiju battle or two that will likely test the Nintendo Switch hardware to its limits. The third entry will include a new ability called Demon Masquerade that gives Bayonetta a new, more powerful form. We’ll also be controlling a new character named Viola, a mysterious new friend and witch-in-training.
