World of Anterra Coming to Switch in 2023
The open-world, Skyrim-inspired RPG by 81monkeys, World of Anterra, has officially been confirmed for a Nintendo Switch release sometime in 2023. After a successful Kickstarter campaign brought the game about 51% over its original goal, the developers were able to fund a backers-only physical copy of the game and confirm its release for the Nintendo Switch console.
What is World of Anterra?
Described as “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim with pixel art”, World of Anterra is a massive open-world RPG developed by 81monkeys, an independent game studio also famous for having developed the Sudoku Scramble mobile game.
World of Anterra will offer up “an endlessly explorable open world, deep progression systems, fast-paced combat, and rich lore, all wrapped in a satisfying and accessible interface,” according to the page.
Players will be able to explore a huge world filled with various oceans, continents, regions, castles and towns, mountains, caves, and dungeons, and experience a non-linear story with divergent paths that will allow you to talk to whomever you’d like and shape your own journey.
Fast and fluid party-based combat will enrich the experience along with gorgeous pixel artwork, and the developers worked to design an interface with the least amount of “UI” and words possible to create a wonderful and more immersive user experience.
