Cult of the Lamb is Suffering From a Game-Breaking Bug: Here’s How to Avoid It, If Possible

Cult of the Lamb has been available on the Nintendo Switch for a couple days now, and unfortunately, it’s lately update (1.0.1) contains a glitch that is potentially game-breaking.

The glitch can take place relatively early in the game when performing rituals. The ritual bug happens randomly, and it seems to affect any kind of ritual available to the player. When the ritual glitch happens, either the followers or the player ends up stuck in place following the animation of the ritual, preventing the player to continue playing and causing an inability to reap the rewards of said ritual.

What makes this crippling for some players is that there are progressive tasks to perform rituals, and when that is presented and the ritual bug is happening, no matter what you do, performing a ritual will not fulfill the task. This is unfortunate for anyone (Including me) who has put in a lot of hours into their game, but thankfully, Massive Monster, the developers of the game, recognize the glitch and are working on a patch at this very moment.

But there is a shed of good news for those not affected by a ritual task that is unable to be completed: you can still save your game while in the stuck ritual animation, which means you can save, exit to the menu, and then reload your game and continue as if nothing ever happened.

This is good, but for many of the rituals, the rewards cannot be reaped, which means performing them is relatively meaningless.

As of this writing, we have paused our review of Cult of the Lamb, since this glitch continues to affect the reviewer (At this point upon 3 different save files). We apologize for the tardiness in our review, but we want to make sure the game is judged fairly. If we were to judge it with this glitch, it would unfortunately cause the game to have no recommendation. Sadly, though, that cannot be the case, because Cult of the Lamb is an incredible title. It just means we have to wait a little bit more for the right playthrough.
