Nintendo of Japan has released a new extensive trailer for Mario Strikers: Battle League, and the trailer goes into great detail about the changes coming to the franchise this time around.

Check out the Japanese trailer:

Highlights from Trailer

  • The start of the trailer goes over the mechanics that have carried over from previous titles, like passing, shooting, hitting, electric fences, and items.
  • TEAM TACKLE: Team tackle is a new addition to the series, and this is basically an ability to hit your teammate in order to give them a boost. This can be used to give your teammate with the ball a breakaway advantage to score a goal, or on the defensive side, you can boost your teammate to approach and hit an opposing player.
  • HYPER STRIKE: This time around, character special abilities are referred to as HYPER STRIKES. In order to execute one, someone on your team needs to pick up an S-Orb, which can then activate the chance to use a HYPER STRIKE. Similar to previous Strikers games, approach the goal, hold the kick button, and you will be presented with a meter. If you hit the green spots on both sides, it will initiate an unstoppable bonus goal!
  • There are currently 10 characters on the roster: Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Peach, Rosalina, Toad, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Wario, and Waluigi. You may notice some missing characters, like Daisy, but keep in mind that this is not the full roster.
  • In Mario Strikers: Battle League, players can equip their team with gear that enhances certain skills. Balancing your team to fit your particular playstyle will take some practice, but this is a wonderful addition that gives much more freedom and control to the player.
  • Up to 2 players can join online games from one console, which is a great addition and something that Nintendo Switch Sports has also implemented.
  • STRIKERS CLUB: Similar to other soccer titles out there, Mario Strikers: Battle League will allow for club creation and customization, and up to 20 players can join a single club and play together in online competition. The game supports 4 v 4, so any 4 players from a single club can be automatically connected. Seasons will also be part of the experience, so competing clubs will battle for the top rank position!

Mario Strikers: Battle League launches on the Nintendo Switch June 10th, 2022. Get your bodies ready!
