Best Star Wars Games On Nintendo Switch
The Force has been strong on the Nintendo Switch with many Star Wars games emerging on the hybrid system. From throttling a podracer through the desert to a grand Lego adventure, here are the best Star Wars games on Nintendo Switch.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
The latest entry in the Lego Star Wars franchise succeeds at bringing the classic Lego charm and the epic nature of the galaxy, far, far away to the Nintendo Switch. It comes with every mainline film from Episode I to Episode IX being retold in TT Games’ iconic style. The open worlds are adorned with details, and it’s obvious that the developers watched the movies over and over again to get the environments just right. In addition, the puzzle gameplay is sublime as you explore each level and world with hundreds of unlockable characters. The combat is definitely on the easy side, but if you’re a parent, this would be perfect to play with the kids. Currently, it’s arguably one of the best Star Wars games on the Nintendo Switch
Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer
There have been very few games like Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer since it was released on the Nintendo 64. Managing your power while steering around the dangerous landscapes of Star Wars is thrilling. It may look very old with its bland textures, but the intense speed of podracing will keep you engaged in the race at hand. It’s a nostalgic game for many as you race for supremacy on the track. Also, it has two-player functionality, so if you’re tired of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and need something a little different in a racing game, Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer may be your ticket.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
If you’re looking for something more mature, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is the game for you. You play as Starkiller, a secret apprentice of Darth Vader, who is trained to kill every Jedi on sight. While it does feel dated in terms of graphics, it does offer a thrilling time with badass quick-time cinematic elements and a somewhat nuanced combo system within its combat. We do have to warn you that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has better graphics and a more developed storyline on the PS3 and Xbox 360. However, this Wii version scaled up for the Switch still delivers a fun experience. It also has an exclusive battle mode for two players, so if you want competitive Star Wars games, this is it.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
The epic Xbox-era Star Wars RPG Knights of the Old Republic is available to play on the Nintendo Switch. It’s one of the most beloved Star Wars games. “KOTOR is precisely what Star Wars is supposed to be: imaginative, awe-inspiring, and totally immersive,” said Ninty Fresh Magazine Features Editor Abram Buehner. “Its dialog trees/morality system are so deep and allow you to explore the galaxy with a nuanced hand that even a lot of the films don’t have, while encountering alien species and planets that’re just as creative and iconic as anything found in the Skywalker Saga.” The classic BioWare title will eventually be remade for the PS5, but you can play the original right now on the Nintendo Switch.
Star Wars Pinball
Do you miss going to the pinball tables at the local arcade that was shut down years ago? Well, Star Wars Pinball might be the next best thing. The developer Zen Studios takes the classic pinball formula and makes it even more engaging with interactive characters and effects that move and speak while you play the game.
The package available on the Nintendo eShop includes 19 tables from across Star Wars’ history. Memorable scenes and environments are represented within the tables, including Jakku from Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and even Solo: A Star Wars Story‘s Mimban. The animated shows Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels are included in the game as well. It is one of the most detail-driven Star Wars games out there.
Codes of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga were provided to the writer from the publisher for review purposes.
