Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition has very recently released on the Nintendo Switch and it has sparked some curiosity as to what the remastered edition includes, and how you should play it. Well, I am here to clear some of those questions.
What is Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition?
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is a remaster of the RPG that released in 1999 on the PlayStation, Chrono Cross. The game has now been implemented with a whole host of new features including:
- 3D models converted to HD
- Refined character illustrations
- Higher-quality background music
- Switch enemy encounters on or off
- Background filter feature
- Battle enhancement features to make combat easier
- Auto-battle function
- Switch between imitation pixel font and HD font
- Change screen resolution
As well as the aforementioned Chrono Cross remaster, The Radical Dreamers Edition also comes equipped with Radical Dreamers, the game that apparently formed the story. So, you’re getting not one, but two games in this collection.
Chrono Cross and Radical Dreamers – Which Should You Play First?
Radical Dreamers is a text adventure game with choices, and was never released outside of Japan. This is the first time it has been playable outside of Japan and so the question remains; Which one should you play first?
The quick answer is Radical Dreamers, if you want to get the full experience and the full details of the story. Radical Dreamers is said to be a prototype of Chrono Cross, both of the games feature the same male protagonist, the same female character as well as the same villain in the game. But, although their names are the same, that is their only similarities.
Chrono Cross is a direct sequel to Chrono Trigger.
