Is Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Rollback Netcode Supported On Switch?
Fighting games rely on a steady netcode, so they can be played online in a functional manner. That is where the bread and butter of the community lies. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax rollback netcode would be an improvement on the standard delay-based system, but will the Switch version support this much-requested feature? Read on to find out.
Is Persona 4 Arena Ultimax rollback netcode possible?
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Producer Kazuhisa Wada confirmed on Twitter that the game will support rollback netcode sometime this summer, but the Switch isn’t currently invited to the party. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax rollback netcode will only be released for the PS4 and PC versions of the game. No reason was given for the Switch’s absence, but we hope Atlus changes its mind on the matter.
Unfortunately, the Nintendo Switch port will only have delay-based netcode, which is a weaker version of rollback. Your connection to other players in the community will vary. Rollback netcode takes the information on the screen and predicts the player’s next action to settle connection issues, but delay-based netcode is authored solely on your actions.
Despite lacking rollback netcode, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is feature-rich. It has 22 characters on its roster from Persona 3 and Persona 4 with all the previous DLC included in the package. In addition, you can play the rich visual novel style story mode alongside plenty of single player modes.
The game also does a great job of teaching you the fundamentals of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, so you can perform more exciting moves against your opponents.
If you have another system like the PlayStation system or a gaming PC, you may want to skip the Switch version for the far improved rollback netcode system.
