All Modes In Persona 4 Arena Ultimax

A fighting game is usually limited in terms of modes. It typically includes a training mode, arcade mode, and online functionality. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax has all of that and much more, including a full story that lasts many hours. Here are all modes in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax you can expect.

Story

  • Episode “P4”
  • P4A: Story Mode

The story mode section of the menu includes the narrative of the original Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. It will take you many hours to go through the visual novel elements of both stories, leading to a lot of content. We wish the fighting game was prevalent in the storytelling, however.

Battle

  • Arcade Mode
  • Score Attack Mode
  • Golden Arena Mode
  • Versus Mode

The arcade mode has you venturing through a path of eight challengers with some story facets spattered throughout. It’s an entertaining ride with five different difficulties for you to choose from. The score attack mode has you fighting to get the highest score in eight battles. Golden Arena mode is like the RPG titles Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is inspired by; you level up, gain perks, and improve your stats as you move up floors. Lastly, Versus Mode lets you fight against local friends and CPUs.

Network

  • Ranked Match
  • Player Match

It’s pretty standard stuff for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax’s online offering. You can go into lobbies with Player Match or head into matchmaking for a Ranked Match. Unfortunately, the game won’t support the far superior rollback netcode when it comes to the PS4 and PC versions this summer. Other than the standard modes, you can check your Ranking and alter your player card.

Practice

  • Lesson Mode
  • Training Mode
  • Challenge Mode

This section of the menu can heighten your skills in combat dramatically. Lesson Mode gives you an excellent introduction to the game’s mechanics and controls. Training Mode allows you to practice your combos and inputs in a free manner. Lastly, Challenge Mode has you learning easy to input strings to hard as nails combos with the character you select.

Option

  • Theater
  • Gallery Mode
  • Options

Next, you can view your replay data in the Theater mode or check out your unlocked media in Gallery Mode. The Gallery mode includes sound bites from every character, illustrations from the art team, cutscenes, and credits. The description of the Gallery Mode says you can access the music, but we can’t actually find it on the Switch version at least.

You can also alter your options here like the game’s difficulty, how many rounds you need to win, and even the narrator. You can also change the background music of the main menu and the language you’d like the voices as: English or Japanese.

All modes in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax coming together makes this game very comprehensive with the most substantial being Arcade and the breadth of story content. For those who haven’t played this fighting game take on the Persona series or those returning to this gem, you’re in for a treat.
