Best Games Like Halo Infinite on Switch
When you see Halo Infinite, it does make you wish the Nintendo Switch had the entire series on the platform, let alone the latest title in the franchise. However, there are some options on the hybrid console that can satiate that thirst while we wait for them to arrive (if at all… wishful thinking).
Well, let’s talk about the options here in the best games like Halo Infinite on the Nintendo Switch!
Doom (2016)
Doom (2016) is a thrilling blockbuster first-person shooter that can be played anywhere, and that alone is gratifying. It provides fast-paced arcade-style levels that will keep you on your toes and gives you some badass weapons to boot. Match that with a fantastic single-player campaign and music that crushes your expectations and chews them out, you’re down for an electrifying time as the Doomslayer.
This will definitely fulfill your wishes until you take out foes with Master Chief’s arsenal. The sequel Doom Eternal is also on Switch alongside its DLC.
Overwatch
It’s hard to recommend Overwatch due to recent events, but it’s frankly one of the best first-person shooters you can play on the Nintendo Switch right now. With an excellent port and all the modes, characters, and stages you’d expect from other versions, Overwatch is truly one of the best team-based games you can experience on the hybrid console.
And the characters all play so differently as well. Tracer is a speedy pistol-user with some English charm, while Reinhardt is a large German man with a huge hammer and shield. He also has the ability to charge incoming enemies. Learning how to team up together with such vastly different characters is part of the magic of Overwatch, and we hope Activision-Blizzard becomes a better company in the future and makes the sequel even better.
This game can last you for hundreds of hours and could be a good way to spend your time before the Halo series reaches the Switch (hopefully). Also, it has cross-play support, so you can play with your friends on PlayStation and Xbox, but not PC.
Paladins
Paladins is another shooter that’s hero-based and is similar to Overwatch. As a squad, you have to control objectives and move a vehicle forward across the map to win rounds. While it sounds like a ripoff—and admittedly, some of the moves look similar to Blizzard’s FPS—Paladins does enough to set itself apart.
It’s in a setting with multiple genres of characters coming together. You have a soldier like Viktor who appeals to Call of Duty players, while you have a cute vulpin alien that heals you with his alchemic shots. There’s a lot of variety, and within its over 50-character roster, you can find a lot of fun to be had. You can also build your character to how you’d like from its card system.
What makes Paladins even better is that it’s free-to-play with the option to buy all the characters if you’d like.
Superhot
You’re not killing aliens or exploring a huge world, but Superhot will certainly give you a unique first-person shooter that you won’t forget. The twist is that time moves when you move. You’ll see bullets fly around you as you try to figure out how to kill the enemies in front. You’ll be throwing pistols, using katanas, catching new weapons, and trying to maneuver your way to victory.
It’s an all-new way of experiencing an FPS, and Superhot is very unique in this retrospect. Just don’t pay too much for it as a standard playthrough lasts two and a half hours. Try to get it on a sale, and you should have a lot of fun, and it’s very, very satisfying.
Warframe
Lastly, is Warframe, which is packed with content and costs absolutely nothing. Unfortunately, there isn’t a first-person angle and instead goes third-person. However, what you’ll find is snappy and brisk combat, plenty of levels and worlds to explore, and even a few open-world sections for your aliens to travel around.
And just like Halo Infinite, you can use both melee weapons, like a sword, and guns to help you win the fight. Every Warframe has its own abilities to offer such as invisibility and mind control, and there’s now space combat that wasn’t in the game originally. And there are now over 50 million Tenno (or players) to check the game out with you in online multiplayer, which also has both cross-play and cross-save support across all platforms.
As you can see there are quite a few first-person shooters on the Nintendo Switch. Hopefully, Halo Infinite joins this list in some shape or form, but these five games should be enough to keep you entertained until Master Chief’s possible arrival.
