Nintendo of Japan Reveals Their Best Selling Games on the eShop for 2021
As 2021 is nearing its end, Nintendo of Japan has revealed the Top 30 best selling games on the Japanese Switch eShop for the year. Some expected games top the list, but there are some surprises throughout, like how The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is still in the Top 30 best selling games for the years, despite the fact that it was a launch title for the Nintendo Switch. (NOTE: These sales are between January 1st, 2021 until December 26th, 2021 only)

One interesting note is that Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl are #3 and #5 respectively, which means combined digital sales would possibly put it at #1, and that is especially interesting considering that it is one of the newer releases on this list.
As expected, though, Monster Hunter Rise leads the pack, as the franchise is one of Japan’s consistent best-sellers. Personally, I am just glad that Metroid Dread made the list at all, which is a huge achievement in Japan, as it is not normally as popular a franchise as it is in the west.
