Five January 2022 Nintendo Switch Games to Watch Out For
As 2021 draws to a close, let’s look to the near future of the Nintendo Switch games library in January. From space exploration to catching ’em all, here’s what to expect. Here are five January 2022 Nintendo Switch games to keep an eye out for!
Astroneer
The multiplayer success from PC, Astroneer is finally making its way to the Nintendo Switch on January 13. In this base-building game, you’re reshaping the sci-fi world around you to find the materials you need. You can create bases and vehicles from the crafting tools available while playing with four players online. Meanwhile, mysteries await you in the planets you explore. Since the game’s release in 2016, it’s gained a huge following on Steam with over 70,000 players rating it Very Positive.
Crumble
Rolling around as a blue blob rather than a blue blur, Crumble has you grappling the game’s platforms with your tongue. It looks frenetic in this vibrant platformer as you work your way through its physics-based levels. After its release on Steam a year ago, it’s received a Very Positive Rating from over 300 reviews. This little slime will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch on January 3.
The Last Friend
What happens when you mix a beat-em-up, tower defense, and plenty of dogos? You get The Last Friend, a lively and unique addition to the plentiful genres we just mentioned. In an effort to save the dogs from disappearing, you play as Alpha, a badass warrior who lost his pup many years ago, to defeat the mutants. He also meets a dog named T.Alpha that somehow can speak to him. Together, they’ll take down the foes in front of them in beat-em-up action. This game surprisingly received an 86 Metacritic score earlier this year, and it will be making its debut on the Nintendo Switch on January 13.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus
The Pokémon series will be taking a step forward, for better or for worse, when Pokémon Legends: Arceus releases on January 28 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Declaring itself as an Action RPG, the franchise takes a leap into the open world genre for the first time. You’ll see the Pokémon walking amongst the wild, making for a more dynamic experience. The game revolves around you exploring the Hisui region in a time way before Diamond and Pearl‘s Sinnoh was formed. New pocket monsters and Hisuian forms await you in this game on your journey to find Arceus. There have been notable frame rate issues seen in the trailers leading up to the release, so hopefully this game will run as slick as Lickitung’s tongue. Sorry for that mental image.
Windjammers 2
Last is a sequel to the cult-classic sports game, Windjammers 2 will finally hit the eShop on January 20. This pick-up-and-play title has you throwing discs from one side of the court to the other in a high-speed encounter. Sporting a colorful look, this game will excite players with its special moves, slapshots, dropshots, smashes, and jumps that will make your victory or defeat. Also, there will be a rocking 90s-themed soundtrack to boot that will keep us pumped into the action.
Thank you for stopping by Nintendo Link for all of your gaming news and updates! What are you looking forward to playing in January? Do any of these titles stand out? Let us know in the comments!
