Pokémon Trading Card Game Live Coming to PC and Mobile

The Pokémon Company is finally bringing its ultra popular trading card game to smart phones and PC! Pokémon Trading Card Game Live will allow fans to play the card game digitally and online for the first time ever, and this could not be coming at a better time, as the Pokémon Trading Card Game is at the peak of its popularity.

Technically, we already got one of these apps before in the Pokémon TGS Online app, but it did not do well, as it was limited to web browsers and tablets and had a lot of issues. Pokémon Trading Card Game Live will replace Pokémon TGS Online and will be an “updated digital format.”

In addition to deck building and online battles, Pokémon Trading Card Game Live will also include customizable avatars, daily quests, and other free-to-play live service elements like battle passes. Players will be able to upload the cards they get from real-life booster packs to their digital collection.

The Pokémon Company doesn’t mention anything about microtransactions in today’s announcement, but this will most likely be included in some fashion, as it is in the recently released Pokémon Unite as well.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Live is set for a soft-launch in Canada and global beta later this year, but we are not aware of an actual release date. Players who are accepted into the beta program will have a chance to transfer most of their stuff over when the app ultimately comes out.
