All Metroid Amiibo Will Work in the Upcoming Metroid Dread

metroid amiibo

Back at E3 2021, when Metroid Dread was announced, Nintendo revealed the new Metroid amiibo featuring Samus Aran and the E.M.M.I. robot. Shortly after, Nintendo shared what both amiibo will do in-game and how they can assist Samus. In the new trailer from the other day, Nintendo shared in more detail what the amiibo can do.

However, nothing has been said about other Metroid-themed amiibo… until recently.

Thanks to the posting of Metroid Dread on the Japanese Nintendo site, details about how other Metroid amiibo work in the upcoming action title were revealed. Here is what you can expect:

Samus amiibo (Metroid Dread)

  • Receive an extra energy tank to increase your health by 100
  • Tap again to replenish some health once per day

E.M.M.I amiibo(Metroid Dread)

  • Receive a Missile Plus tank, increasing missile capacity by 10
  • Tap again to replenish some missiles once per day

Samus Aran amiibo (Metroid: Samus Returns), Samus amiibo (Super Smash Bros.), Zero Suit Samus amiibo (Super Smash Bros.)

  • Tap to replenish some health once per day

Metroid amiibo (Metroid: Samus Returns), Ridley amiibo (Super Smash Bros.), Dark Samus amiibo (Super Smash Bros.)

  • Tap to replenish some missiles once per day

Compared to 2017’s Metroid: Samus Returns on the Nintendo 3DS, it looks like the amiibo functionality will be much more user-friendly. If you are unfamiliar, there was a lot of animosity for how Nintendo handled the cancellation of Project AM2R, a Metroid II fan remake, only to announce their own version of a Metroid II remake.

After they announced the amiibo and an entire mode was locked behind the Metroid amiibo, anticipation for the 3DS title plummeted and sales were horrendous. Thankfully, Metroid Dread looks to be handling this much better, and it looks like all of the amiibo functionality is simple assistance and nothing more.
