Nintendo Switch Passes PS3 and Xbox 360 Sales and More
The financial report from Nintendo today has revealed a couple of notable sales milestones. First off, the Nintendo Switch has officially surpassed the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles on the all-time list.
As of now, the Nintendo Switch has shipped more than 89 million units, which means it is now the seventh best-selling console of all time. It has outsold the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which ended their production runs at 87.4 million and 86 million units respectively.
Nintendo also reached another huge milestone by having sold over 800 million consoles and handhelds over the course of their video game tenure. This includes standalone devices such as the NES, Wii, DS, and Switch, but it does not include things like the Game & Watch and plug & play retro consoles.
The Nintendo Switch continues to dominate the gaming world right now, and it does not look like it will be slowing down any time soon, as more top-tier first party titles are around the corner, like Metroid Dread, Breath of the Wild 2, and even Metroid Prime 4.
