Metroid Dread Announced at E3 2021, Special Edition & amiibo
Metroid Dread was announced today at E3 2021, and it is scheduled to release on October 28th, 2021. Dread is also a direct sequel to Metroid Fusion, which helps continue the 2D storyline, technically making this Metroid 5. It is being developed by MercurySteam, who also worked on the Samus Returns remake on the Nintendo 3DS.
The title will also launch alongside from new amiibo for the game.
Dread has been a tease since the original Metroid Prime on the GameCube (Even originally rumored for the Nintendo DS), so this is some great follow up and a wonderful surprise for Metroid’s 35th anniversary. This is also technically the first original 2D Metroid title in over 19 years, and it has a very Alien-vibe about it with its intense isolation and Samus avoiding a dangerous robot.

A special edition of Metroid Dread has also been announced, which comes with a steel case, an art book, and art cards!
