Firefighting Multiplayer Embr Lighting Up Consoles This Summer
Having brought its signature style of frantic, frenetic, and – yes – fantastically fun online multiplayer to Early Access for Steam and Google Stadia last year, Curve Digital is excited to announce Embr will make the leap to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch at the same time it enjoys its full launch on PC this summer.
Embr – developed by Muse Games – is part satirical commentary on the world’s ever-expanding gig economy that increasingly dominates our lives, and part brilliantly silly multiplayer. Check out the trailer for more:
Play charges you and your friends with coming together to have a crack at fighting fires and rescuing residents – if you call throwing them directly onto the ground from open windows a ‘rescue’, that is.
In Embr, players either take on the game solo or work together in online teams tackling blaze after blaze to earn tips from clients, picking up the ever-so-crucial 5-star rating in order to earn cash, upgrade tools, and hopefully become the ultimate ‘have-a-go hero’ firefighter. Want to make a little money on the side? Then you can also deliver takeout food on the fly with ‘Embr Eats’. Embr really is the ‘uber’ experience for anyone who wants to get to grips with the gig economy.
As Howard Tsao, Team Lead at Muse Games explains, ultimately Embr is one of a growing number of games that thrives on making failing fun.
“It’s safe to say this was never designed to be your typical firefighting simulator,” adds Tsao. “Embr’s role is to focus a comedic eye on where the gig economy is headed – the ultimate end we’re all hurtling towards, where your everyday person on the street takes a crack at some of the most important, specialised, and crucial jobs for a bit of extra cash. The end result is just as hectic as it sounds and, within the relative safety of a game, an amazing amount of fun. We can’t wait to launch it fully on PC and, just as importantly, bring it to a brand new audience on console later this year.”
Having treated Early Access players to three major updates in less than a year adding fresh modes and content aplenty, Embr has also added new content today in the form of a Golden Toilet Grenade to keep those clients safe while you take care of the fire and an explosive Demolition game mode where players get to start the fire for a (bit of) change!
Embr is designed for PS4 and Xbox One, but will run perfectly on PS5 and Series X|S. Keep an eye out for more details on Embr’s launch on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch later this year.
