Drowning Monkeys Giving Away $3500 for Playing Castle Kong

Drowning Monkeys is over the moon and bursting with excitement to announce the forthcoming release of their very retro, ‘homage’-inspired title of a classic that many oldies will fondly remember and newbies certainly won’t. Releasing for Nintendo Switch on 25th February for $6.99 / £5.99 GBP / €6.99, this ‘flashback’ pixelated title will take gamers back in time, literally!

Put simply, Castle Kong is a celebration to the classic Nintendo arcade game, Donkey Kong, recreating the same kind of looks, retro graphical world, and stages, while presenting completely new addictive challenges that were presented in bygone times. 22 levels traversing four different stages, with just 3 lives to complete your epic quest.

But wait! There is more… A game with fringe bonuses!

The high score tournament begins on Nintendo Switch launch day for Castle Kong: February 25, 2021 @ 9PM EST and runs until May 25th, 2021. The players with the best 10 scores set AFTER LAUNCH DAY will win the prizes.

List of Prizes

• First to the kill screen: $5000* (WINNER IS ONLY ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PRIZE)
• HIGHEST SCORE (OTHER THAN THE KILL SCREEN CONTESTANT): $1250
• 2ND HIGHEST SCORE: $750
• 3RD HIGHEST SCORE: $500
• 4TH-5th HIGHEST SCORES: $250
• 6-10TH highest scores: $100

What are the rules?

• You must own a copy of the game. This means that you purchase the ‘full game unlock’ DLC from the eShop or the Steam Store.
• It is assumed that the player is behaving in ‘good faith’ to the spirit of the tournament and its competitors. No trainers/cheats/mods of any kind that affect the CK software may be employed during your run.
• As a further extrapolation of the rule above, any EXPLOIT found and used in the run will disqualify the run. An example would be if running off the screen warped the player to the top of the wall.
• Point farming is a part of the game, farm on.
• You must be on the latest software update that is available at the time of the stream (e.g. – v1.1 is available but you were running v1.0)
• You must **LIVEstream** (either on YouTube, Mixer, or Twitch) the qualifying score, and the stream must stay active in the archives for review. Remember! This applies to high scores and kill screen submissions!
• Anyone who worked on this game is ineligible for any of the prizes listed above. Later tournaments may lift this requirement.

This is an exciting way to launch an indie title. I would imagine that many people probably did not have Castle Kong on their radar, but after Drowning Monkeys tournament inclusion with cash prizes, I can see many people jumping on board to try and win.
