disjunction

Set in New York City in 2048, Disjunction is an epic looking stealth-action RPG by Sold Out and Ape Tribe Games. The cyberpunk title takes place after a prominent New York Official is arrested, leaving the city in turmoil. Besides the recent political problems, a dangerous new drug known as ‘Shard’ is spreading through the city’s underworld.

Much like Grand Theft Auto V, Disjunction centers around three playable protagonists: Frank, Joe, and Spider. An unstable private eye, Frank Monroe finds himself entrenched in a deep conspiracy after taking on a new case. Frank is a versatile character capable of moving stealthily past enemies or attacking them head-on.

Then there’s Joe. A former underground heavyweight boxer, Joe is essentially a tank. Joe’s arsenal includes a combat stim, which ups his strength, and the charge ability, which allows him to dash forward quickly.

Lastly, we have Spider, a hacker who prefers stealth to full-blown battles. Spider uses a Holoprojector that distracts enemies by projecting her cat’s image, making her the coolest cat lady I’ve come across. She also has a cloaking field, which renders her temporarily invisible. Each protagonist has unique cybernetic upgrades available to them.

Disjunction features a reactive storyline, so player choices have an impact on the plot. One hopes the consequences of player’s choices aren’t merely aesthetic—yes, I’m still salty about Mass Effect 3. If done right, the ability to affect the plot with your actions should add to the title’s replayability.
