Thank the Light of Palutena, 2020 is coming to a swift end, but today Nintendo reveals the top-selling Nindies on the Nintendo Switch for the year. Our favorite hybrid console has been a wonderful home for indie titles for years now, and this year was no exception. For everything 2020 has been for us, it has not been a terrible year for games. Arguably some of the greatest indies ever released this year, and we have high hopes that 2021 will continue that trend.

Nintendo did not offer specific sales figures for the following games, and they are in no particular order. The list features 16 games in total, covering a wide spread of genres. The presence of some titles on the list may come as a little surprising, but there are quite the amount of exciting games on this list:

  • Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2
  • Carrion
  • CrossCode
  • Hades
  • The Jackbox Party Pack 7
  • Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition
  • Moving Out
  • Neon Abyss
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps
  • Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin
  • Shantae and the Seven Sirens
  • Spiritfarer
  • Streets of Rage 4
  • Super Mega Baseball 3
  • Superliminal
  • What the Golf?

The Nintendo Switch releasing dozens of games on a weekly basis, it is so encouraging to know that there are plenty of indie titles that sold so well. As the Switch enters its fifth year on the market, it will be interesting to see how the relationship continues with many of these indie developers and publishers.

It is clear that Nintendo is working closely with many of these teams, and 2021 looks to be another solid year of strong indie titles releasing on the console. With titles like Silk Song, Little Nightmares 2, Cris Tales, Balan Wonderland, Cyber Shadow, Axiom Verge 2, Olija, and many others on the way, we have many reasons to continue to be excited about gaming on the Switch.
