Town Theme in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
One of the wonderful things about Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the Animal Crossing series in general is the ability to customize your town theme. For many, this may seem a bit intimidating, but for the musically inclined, this is a chance to make your island town go from decent to freakin’ awesome!
I remember when I got Animal Crossing on the Gamecube, my brother was the only one who was able to read music, so we had a strong dependence on him creating some sweet tunes for our town theme. Unfortunately, and mostly due to his education at the time, our themes were usually snippets of songs he was learning in band. They were not bad at all, but they were nothing we could be proud of or love to hear when playing the game.
Thankfully, with the rise of the internet and wonderful contributors from all platforms, giving your town a memorable theme is as easy as a YouTube or Google search.
Early in the game’s release, YouTuber Jules Conroy posted an awesome collection of songs that you can make into your own town theme. He was taking requests during his live stream at the time, and the collection ended up with 69 unique songs, from Toto’s “Africa” to the Jeopardy theme to The Legend of Zelda theme. If you have not found a town theme that you like yet, I highly suggest checking out his video below for some inspiration.
In order to set your town theme, you must first welcome the all-so-wonderful Isabelle to your village. If you are still early in the game, she joins Tom Nook’s team at Resident Services and provides all kinds of help in the later portions of the “story”. Once you unlock her, you can customize things like your town’s flag or tune.
Are you playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons? If so, what is your town theme at the moment? Let us know in the comments below! I am currently using a-ha’s “Take On Me”, because it just makes me laugh every time I hear each villager’s version of the song.
