Niantic has launched a fun new Pokemon GO event in collaboration with Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, the new film that is finally releasing. In normal Pokemon GO fashion, the popular mobile game has brought many features to celebrate the release, including the return of the dastardly Jessie and James!
In addition to Jessie and James returning in their Meowth balloons, they are also hosting a special quest line called Distracted by Something Shiny which will reward players with a Shiny Celebi upon completion. The Jessie and James balloons will only be available for a few more days, but the special quest line for Shiny Celebi has no expiration.
This time, Jessie and James are equipped with new Pokemon in the front of their line, where Jessie starts off with Scyther and James starts off with Pinsir. Both of these Pokemon will be the reward Shadow Pokemon for defeating the pair, and you can get both of them shiny.
In addition to this event, a controversial Special Research was announced a couple days ago where you can obtain Galarian Mr. Mime and evolve it to Mr. Rime. Sounds great, right? Well, the problem is that the event has a heavy price tag, making this Pokemon the most expensive one in Pokemon GO history. After Niantic announced the Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto event, another paid event, this Galarian Mr. Mime one just feels like a poor attempt at a cash grab.
Thankfully, you do not have to buy the ticket to enjoy some of the festivities for the event, but it is hard not to feel a bit taken advantage of, especially after such a hard year for most people.
In the mean time, enjoy your adventuring with Jessie and James! Try to get you a Shadow Shiny Scyther and Pinsir (I got a Pinsir on my first try!) and begin working towards that Shiny Celebi in the Special Quest Line.
Thank you for stopping by Nintendo Link for all of your Pokemon GO news and updates. Are you excited for this new event with Jessie and James? What are your thoughts on the Galarian Mr. Mime event? Let us know in the comments below! Happy gaming, everyone.
