Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Beats First Game Sales by 324%

According to Gamesindustry.biz, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity sales are “significantly up” compared to the previous Switch entry for the Zelda sub-series. GI’s Christopher Dring attributes this to the new game being promoted as a prequel to the fan-favourite Switch launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The game didn’t do quite as well as traditional Zelda games, with sales 43% lower than last year’s The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Dring attributes this to the gameplay being based off the Japanese action series Dynasty Warriors, which doesn’t sell that many copies in the UK.

Additionally, Nintendo had a pretty solid week in the video game charts with Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, and Minecraft (the Switch version) occupying positions 8, 9 and 10 on the charts.
