Monochrome RPG Episode One: A Punny Rubber Hose Adventure has launched on Kickstarter, and this looks to be a gorgeous indie title done in the style of 1920’s cartoons and silent animation. The gimmick not only looks like it will be an enjoyable experience, but it also looks like a solid quirky RPG along the same vein as Earthbound (Mother 1 & 2).
The game is planning on releasing across all major platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, but like other Kickstarter projects, it needs our support. Earlier this year, DVNC Tech released a short demo video to show off the game’s potential, but the Kickstarter campaign promises so much more.
What is Monochrome RPG?
You’ll play as Otto, a (not for long) lone comedian, who sets out for stardom on the journey of a lifetime after his daily routine is ruined!
You head to work after a maniacal morning, trek through grim grey-shaded valleys solving the farmers’ and tools’ problems, deal with the heaps of trouble plaguing the villagers in Talent Town, and try to help Captain Smokestack fix the broken Barge.
Monochrome RPG is a punny rubber-hose narrative adventure! Monochrome Episode One starts players on a genre-breaking journey of epic proportions. Live out your dreams of being a comedian by building your own troupe, entertaining enemies, and discovering the secrets of Vaudeville.
With a clever and charming comedic tone, Monochrome RPG juxtaposes a cheerful and happy face with the grey morality of many toons’ lives. Can you beat the odds and save them, or will you prove to be another one-hit wonder?
- Theme – Expression is the best medicine! Laughing is great, but so is crying, getting angry, and spreading love. The game features it all!
- Set in the Roaring 20’s black and white cartoon land of Monochrome, which contains areas such as Greyshade Valley, Talent Town, and the Fickle Vintage River.
- A turn-based comedy narrative adventure game with dark comedy and noir elements.
- Two-dimensional in a rubber-hose style and traditionally animated.
- Ragtime, jazz, and all sorts of 1920’s-inspired classic sounds.
- A goal is to release on the Nintendo Switch.
This looks to be a very creative video game and one that each of us should at least check out. You can visit their Kickstarter page here, and there are still some Early Bird pledges left to get the game and soundtrack for $20. Otherwise, the same deal will cost $25. There are also a lot of other pledges that will net you other goods like t-shirts, artbooks, pin sets, and more. Be sure to check them out when you can!
Thank you for stopping by Nintendo Link for all of your Kickstarter news and needs. What did you think of this unique RPG? Are you excited to see more? Do you think you will be backing it? Let us know in the comments below! Happy gaming, everyone.
