Pokemon Sword & Shield Expansion Pass Update and More
On September 29th, Nintendo hosted a Pokemon DLC themed stream that showed off three things; Pokemon Sword and Shield‘s newest DLC, The Crown Tundra, a plan to link Pokemon GO and Pokemon Home, and a surprise in the form of Pokemon Gotcha.
It was a fun presentation that did not announce anything massive, but it served its purpose nonetheless.
The Crown Tundra DLC
Pokemon Sword and Shield‘s next (and presumably last) DLC, The Crown Tundra, will launch on the Nintendo Switch October 22, 2020. This DLC has been hyped up by its addition of numerous Legendary Pokemon, including the Galarian forms of Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno. It looks like we will also be getting Giratina and Dialga among others.
There is also a new mode called Dynamax Adventures that lets you traverse through the caves with up to three other trainers to battle and catch Dynamax Pokemon. Instead of your regular team, you and your fellow trainers will chose from rental Pokemon to bring along into the depths of the den. Get ready for a real challenge as you all enter Max Raid Battles with your rental Pokemon!
Pokemon Sword/Shield + Expansion Pass
On top of the announcement for The Crown Tundra DLC, they announced a new version of Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield that contain both expansions, that will release both physically and digitally on November 6th, 2020.
Special Pikachu for Sword and Shield Owners
You can get yourself Ash’s Pikachu wearing eight different caps in Pokemon Sword and Shield by collecting passwords that will be shared in the upcoming days.
For the original cap Pikachu (And the first of eight password), the password is P1KACHUGET. For the Reboot Cap Pikachu, the password is 1CH00SEY0U. You can redeem these codes in Sword and Shield.
Link Between Pokemon GO and Pokemon Home
In this upcoming update, Pokemon caught in Pokemon GO will be able to move from Pokemon GO to Pokemon Home to other games in the franchise, including Pokemon Sword and Shield.
What’s more, if you transfer a Pokemon from GO to Home, you will receive a mystery box that will give you the mythical Pokemon Meltan in Pokemon GO! In the Pokemon Home app, you will also receive a mystery gift containing a special Melmetal that is capable of Gigantamaxing.
Link capabilities are planned to arrive within the year. Please stay tuned for more updates.
Pokemon Gotcha
A special music video featuring the famous Japanese band, Bump of Chicken, and it was a collaboration with all at the Pokemon Company. The music video is fantastic! Absolutely gorgeous animation by Bones INC, and it is something I would love to see future anime use. The music is fun, and you can tell that everyone behind the project put all of their love and effort into it!
That is it for the Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield Expansion Pass update. We will keep you update to date with more information as it comes in.
Thank you for stopping by Nintendo Link for all of your Pokemon news and updates. What did you think of this presentation? Did it get you excited? What did you think of the music video? Personally, I loved it! Let us know what you think in the comments below. Happy gaming, everyone!
